Tonight's programme
Tonight's Programme
The night runs in five reels, doors to curtain call, whichever combination of dinner and class you've booked.
- REEL I7:30pm
Doors, for the pre-show class
An optional hour on your feet before dinner, taught inside the theatre for anyone who wants to try a few steps before watching the professionals do it properly.
- REEL IIfrom 8:00pm
Dinner, at your table
Dinner is served at your seat inside the auditorium itself, before the curtain — there's no separate dining room, so the table you're shown to is the one you keep for the show.
- REEL III9:00pm
The curtain
The orchestra takes its place and the house lights go down on the arched proscenium for the first number.
- REEL IV9:00–10:30pm
The show
Around ninety minutes of orchestra, singers and dance couples working through the night's programme, reel after reel.
- REEL Vafter 10:30pm
Last dance, house lights up
The final number closes the night and the room empties back onto Cerrito, the Obelisco lit a block away for the walk out.
Dinner and the pre-show class are optional add-ons on the same GetYourGuide booking — choose the show-only ticket and you go straight to a seat for the 9:00pm curtain, no table required.
The building
The Building
Long before it held a tango show, the room at Cerrito 570 held a cinema screen — the arches, the balconies and the relief above the stage are original to that build, not decoration added for the show.
A Loew's cinema, 1956
Built for the American studio Loew's and opened as the Cine Metro on 4 October 1956, designed by the Belgian-born architect Alberto Bourdon.
An Art Deco relief over the stage
The arch above the curtain still carries its original relief — film reels and figures cast above the proscenium, the clearest trace left of the room's life as a cinema.
Two balconies, one auditorium
The theatre keeps its original tiered balconies rather than a flat show-room floor, so a dinner table and a balcony seat look out at the same stage from two different heights.
A block from Teatro Colón
Cerrito 570 sits close enough to Teatro Colón, the city's opera house, to share the same short stretch of theatre architecture in the microcentro.
Four ways to book the same night
Four ways to book the same night at Cerrito 570.
| The option | What's included | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Show only | A seat for the 9:00pm curtain — orchestra, singers and the dance couples, about ninety minutes | A first night at the theatre, or when dinner's booked elsewhere |
| Show & dinner | Your table inside the theatre from the early evening, dinner served before the curtain rises, then the same seat for the show | A full night out, one table for the whole evening |
| VIP gourmet dinner | A three-course menu with a wider choice of starters, mains and dessert, premium wine and hotel transfer included, at the theatre's better-placed tables | A celebration, or wanting the best seats taken care of |
| The pre-show tango class | An optional hour on your feet before dinner, taught inside the theatre | First-timers who want to try the steps, not just watch them |
The production
The Production
Three elements carry the night: the orchestra in the pit, the singers on the sung numbers, and the couples out front on the boards.
- The orchestra
Piano, strings, bandoneón
A live band anchors every number from the pit, built around the bandoneón at the centre of the tango sound, the way tango orchestras have been staffed since the genre's golden age.
- The singers
The sung numbers
Vocalists carry the tango-canción numbers between the danced sets — the same song tradition that made Carlos Gardel's name a century ago, on stages not unlike this one.
- The couples
The couples on the boards
Pairs of dancers move through the night's staged numbers out front — the visual centre of the show, and the reason most people in the room came in the first place.
Tonight, in three frames
The orchestra, the embrace, and the couples on the boards.

Getting to Cerrito 570
Getting To Cerrito 570
Where it is
Cerrito 570, on the block beside Avenida 9 de Julio, a short walk from Teatro Colón and a block from the Obelisco.
On foot from the Obelisco
From the Obelisco, Cerrito runs one block north-west — an easy five-minute walk past the avenue's traffic and jacaranda trees.
By taxi or rideshare
Cerrito sits in the middle of downtown Buenos Aires, on a block any taxi or rideshare driver will know by the Obelisco alone.
Book the table you want
With dinner served inside the auditorium itself, the tables nearer the stage go to whichever booking reserves them first — the show-only ticket has no table to claim at all.
Reviewers who book close to the date report being seated further back than they'd hoped; the tables nearer the stage go to whoever reserves the dinner option first, and the show-only ticket has no table to claim at all.
FAQ
Before you book
Do I need to book dinner, or can I just watch the show?
Both sit on the one listing. Pick the show-only ticket for the cheaper seat at the 9:00pm curtain, or add the dinner option for a table inside the theatre from earlier in the evening — either way it's a single booking, not two separate ones.
What was the building before it was a tango theatre?
It opened in 1956 as the Cine Metro, a cinema built for the American studio Loew's — the arches and the relief above the stage are original to that build.
Is the pre-show tango class included?
No — it's a separate optional add-on, about an hour, before dinner, for anyone who wants to try the basics before watching the couples on stage.
What's different about the VIP gourmet dinner?
A wider menu — more starters, mains and dessert choices — with premium wine, hotel transfer and a better-placed table, on a separate listing from the standard dinner option.
How far is Cerrito 570 from the Obelisco?
About a block — close enough to walk in a few minutes from any direction on Avenida 9 de Julio.
How long does the show run?
Around ninety minutes from the 9:00pm curtain, with the orchestra, singers and dance couples working through the night's programme.
Can I book a table for a group or a celebration?
You can book multiple seats on the same listing for a group; there's no separate group ticket, so book everyone under one reservation to be seated together.
Is there a dress code?
The listing doesn't set one, but it's a theatre with a dinner service rather than a club — most visitors dress for a night out.
