Arriving on Cerrito
Cerrito 570 sits on a short block that runs into Avenida 9 de Julio, close enough to the Obelisco that most visitors walk the last stretch rather than have a taxi hunt for the door. The building doesn't announce itself as a former cinema from the street — the giveaway is inside, where the original arched proscenium and two tiers of balconies open up past the entrance. If you've booked the dinner option, you're generally asked to arrive earlier than the show-only ticket; if you've booked the show alone, arriving closer to 9:00pm is enough, since there's no table to be shown to first. That original raked floor, built for sightlines to a cinema screen rather than a stage, still does its job for a live show decades later.
Finding your seat or your table
Dinner bookings are seated at a table inside the auditorium itself — the same room that holds the show, not a separate function room — so the table you're shown to at the start of the evening is the one you keep through the curtain. Show-only bookings are seated rather than tabled, generally further back or in the balconies, which still keep a clear line to the stage given the room's original raked floor and tiered levels. Staff generally know which option you've booked from the reservation itself, so there's rarely a need to explain your table versus seat-only booking at the door.
The pre-show class, if you've booked it
The tango class is a separate optional add-on rather than something bundled automatically into dinner or the show — it runs for about an hour before dinner service starts, taught inside the theatre rather than in a separate studio. It's aimed at people who've never danced a step of tango, not at anyone hoping for a technical workshop; the goal is to have tried it once before watching people who've done it for a living. The class runs as a stand-alone add-on rather than a rehearsal for anything you'll be asked to do later in the evening — nobody's pulled up to perform.
Dinner, served where you're sitting
Dinner is table service inside the same room as the show, starting from around 8:00pm on the dinner option and running until the curtain. Because the table is also your seat for the performance, there's no interval move to a different part of the theatre between eating and watching — the room simply changes from a dining room to an auditorium as the house lights come down. Because the kitchen and the stage share the one room, service is timed around the show rather than run as a separate restaurant sitting.
The curtain at 9:00pm
The show itself starts at 9:00pm, per the venue's own published times, and runs roughly ninety minutes — orchestra, singers and dance couples working through the night's programme without a scheduled interval. The original arch above the stage, with its Art Deco relief, frames the whole thing, lit for the performance rather than for the empty room you may have walked past on the way to your seat. The room holds its temperature and sound differently with a full house than empty, something worth knowing if you've walked past the theatre earlier in the day and peered in.
After the last number
The final number closes the show a little after 10:30pm, and the room empties back onto Cerrito reasonably quickly — there's no encore set built into the running time. From the door, it's a short walk back toward the Obelisco, lit white a block away, for a cab, the subte or the walk on to wherever the rest of the night takes you. Staff typically clear the room fairly briskly once the curtain call ends, since there's usually another audience expected the following night.
